123-reg, a famous web hosting service provider from UK, has reported a DDoS attack on a single customer. This attack also affected other customer’s Shared Hosting platforms.
The attack took place on 23rd April ’14, which reportedly didn’t blow out any site but the users did experience a downtime while loading the sites. In a public statement, 123-reg said that the attack was from over 800 different IP addresses, worldwide.
However, customers of 123-reg addressed the issue on the company’s social community page. There was no issue updated on the company’s FaceBook site, which made many users unhappy.
The company acts as host to 1.4 million websites and is part of the Host Europe Group. It did not disclose the number of customers that were affected by the DDoS attack. In order to establish customer’s trust, each company should have a transparency approach when it comes to informing about service downtime.
